Finance Manager - School Based Opportunity (Northampton)

About the Role
Monarch Education is recruiting on behalf of a well-established school in Northampton for an experienced and dedicated Finance Manager. This is an exciting opportunity for a qualified finance professional to play a pivotal role in supporting the school's financial health, long-term planning and operational success. Working closely with the Headteacher, Governors and Senior Leadership Team, you will lead all aspects of financial management and ensure the school remains compliant, efficient and financially sustainable.
Key Responsibilities
- Lead all day-to-day financial operations.
- Prepare and manage annual budgets, forecasts and management accounts.
- Monitor income and expenditure and provide detailed financial reporting.
- Oversee payroll, purchasing, invoicing and contract management.
- Support strategic financial planning and resource allocation.
- Ensure compliance with education finance regulations and policies.
- Liaise with auditors, governors and external stakeholders.
- Manage financial systems and contribute to continuous improvement initiatives.
Candidate Requirements
- Recognised financial qualification (AAT, ACCA, ACA, CIMA, CIPFA) or equivalent professional experience.
- Previous finance management experience, ideally within education, public sector or a similar environment.
- Excellent analytical, budgeting and forecasting skills.
- Strong attention to detail and ability to meet deadlines.
- Excellent communication and stakeholder management skills.
- Proficiency with finance software and Microsoft Office applications.
